Position: Chief Marketing Officer (CMO)

The Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) is an executive leadership role responsible for the overall strategic direction, vision, and execution of all marketing and brand initiatives across an organisation. They are a key member of the executive team, driving revenue growth, shaping brand perception, and ensuring marketing efforts align directly with overarching business objectives. 


Day to day, a CMO develops long-term marketing strategies, oversees multi-million dollar budgets, builds and leads high-performing marketing teams, identifies new market opportunities, and acts as a brand evangelist. They are a visionary leader, highly analytical, and adept at navigating complex market dynamics to deliver significant business impact. 

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement the overarching marketing vision and strategy for the entire organisation. 
  • Lead, mentor, and build a high-performing marketing department across all disciplines (brand, digital, communications, product marketing, etc.). 
  • Responsible for the entire marketing budget and its strategic allocation to drive maximum ROI. 
  • Drive brand strategy, positioning, and messaging to enhance brand equity and market leadership. 
  • Identify new market opportunities, consumer trends, and competitive threats to inform strategy. 
  • Oversee the planning and execution of all integrated marketing campaigns, ensuring alignment with sales and business goals. 
  • Analyse market data, customer insights, and campaign performance to make data-driven strategic decisions. 
  • Collaborate closely with other C-suite executives (CEO, CRO, CTO) to ensure marketing is integrated into overall business strategy. 
  • Manage key external relationships, including agencies, media partners, and technology providers. 
  • Represent the company externally as a thought leader and brand advocate. 

Skills & Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, or a related field; MBA strongly preferred. 
  • Extensive executive-level experience (12-15+ years) in senior marketing leadership roles, with significant time as a CMO or Marketing Director for a substantial organisation. 
  • Proven track record of driving significant revenue growth and market share through innovative marketing strategies. 
  • Exceptional leadership, team building, and talent development capabilities. 
  • Superior financial acumen and experience managing large marketing budgets and P&Ls. 
  • Deep understanding of all marketing disciplines, both digital and traditional. 
  • Outstanding strategic thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills. 
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and public speaking abilities. 
  • A visionary and entrepreneurial mindset with a passion for building successful brands.
