Position: Event Director

The Event Director is a senior leadership role responsible for the strategic planning, development, and flawless execution of large-scale events and experiential campaigns for agency clients. Reporting to a Group Account Director or Managing Director, an Event Director leads multiple project teams, manages key client relationships, and ensures the delivery of events that align with client objectives and drive significant ROI. They are the ultimate custodian of the client's vision and the agency's reputation in the experiential space.


Day to day, Event Directors oversee all aspects of event production, from conceptualisation and budgeting to vendor management, team leadership, and post-event analysis. They mentor junior staff, manage complex timelines, and are accountable for financial performance and client satisfaction across their portfolio.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Lead the strategic development and execution of major events and experiential campaigns for agency clients.
  • Manage large-scale budgets, ensuring financial targets are met and profitability is maximised.
  • Oversee cross-functional teams, including production, creative, logistics, and account management, providing strong leadership and direction.
  • Cultivate and maintain high-level client relationships, acting as a trusted advisor and primary point of contact.
  • Drive new business opportunities and contribute to pitch development and presentations.
  • Ensure all events are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality and safety.
  • Negotiate contracts with vendors, suppliers, and venues, ensuring favourable terms.
  • Develop and implement risk management strategies for all events.
  • Analyse event performance, generate comprehensive post-event reports, and provide strategic recommendations.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and competitor activities in the events and experiential sector.

 

Skills & Qualifications:  

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Event Management, or a related field.
  • Extensive experience (8+ years) in a senior event management or director role within a creative or experiential agency.
  • Proven track record of successfully delivering large, complex events and activations.
  • Exceptional leadership, team management, and mentoring skills.
  • Superior client relationship management and presentation abilities.
  • Strong financial acumen and budget management expertise.
  • Excellent problem-solving, negotiation, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure agency environment.
