Position: Head of Events

The Head of Events is a senior strategic and operational leadership role within a creative or experiential agency, responsible for overseeing the entire events department. This role focuses on defining the agency's events strategy, driving growth, maintaining high delivery standards across all projects, and managing a team of event professionals. They ensure the agency remains at the forefront of the industry and delivers innovative and impactful experiences for clients.


Day to day, the Head of Events provides visionary leadership, manages departmental P&L, nurtures key client relationships, and champions best practices in event planning and execution. They are instrumental in business development, talent acquisition, and fostering a culture of excellence within the events team.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Define and drive the strategic direction and growth of the agency's events division.
  • Oversee the end-to-end planning and execution of all agency events and experiential campaigns.
  • Manage the departmental budget and P&L, ensuring profitability and financial targets are met.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of Event Directors, Producers, and Coordinators.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients, acting as an executive escalation point.
  • Identify new business opportunities, contribute to pitches, and expand the agency's client portfolio.
  • Implement and optimise operational processes, tools, and best practices for event delivery.
  • Ensure consistent delivery of high-quality, innovative, and impactful events that align with client objectives.
  • Monitor industry trends, competitive landscape, and new technologies to keep the agency at the cutting edge.
  • Represent the agency at industry events and conferences, enhancing its reputation.

 

Skills & Qualifications:  

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Event Management, or a related field.
  • Extensive experience (10+ years) in senior event management, with significant time in an agency leadership role (e.g., Head of Events, Group Event Director).
  • Demonstrated ability to strategically grow and manage a successful events department.
  • Proven track record of delivering exceptional results for diverse clients.
  • Strong financial management and P&L experience.
  • Exceptional leadership, team building, and motivational skills.
  • Superior communication, negotiation, and presentation abilities.
  • Deep understanding of the events and experiential industry, including trends and technologies.
