The Team
You’ll join the digital and growth function, which represents roughly 70% of the organisation’s headcount. This team includes:
- A leader responsible for digital strategy and commercial performance
- Head of CRO
- Ecommerce Lead
- Data Engineering
- Graphic Design
- Paid Search (currently a contractor, moving to a permanent role)
You’ll also collaborate closely with the operations and production division, led by a separate function that covers supply side activities.

The Role
This is a hybrid role spanning engineering, ecommerce, experimentation, automation, and technical enablement for the broader growth team.
You will be the technical owner of the ecommerce and martech ecosystem, ensuring the organisation can test, iterate, optimise, and scale digital experiences rapidly.
This is a hands-on role where you will build, ship, and improve systems that directly influence revenue and customer experience.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership & Execution
- Lead engineering across frontend, backend, Shopify, and martech systems.
- Build and maintain fast, reliable, scalable ecommerce experiences.
- Design and deploy integrations, APIs, automation, and internal tools that support experimentation and growth.
- Implement robust engineering practices while making commercially sound decisions around technical debt.
Experimentation & Growth
- Work with CRO, data, ecommerce, and marketing teams to roll out high velocity A/B tests, UX enhancements, and optimisation experiments.
- Develop the frameworks, tools, and infrastructure that enable rapid iteration.
- Introduce innovative, first principles technical solutions rather than relying on agency style playbooks.
Collaboration & Strategy
- Partner with leadership to shape the digital roadmap.
- Translate business problems into elegant, measurable technical solutions.
- Work closely with creative, data, and marketing teams to deliver cross-functional initiatives.
Team & Capability Building
- Establish engineering best practices and technical standards.
- Potential to grow and lead an engineering team over time as the function scales.
- Promote a culture of experimentation, curiosity, and commercial awareness.
About You
Candidates should bring strong capability in at least two of the following three areas:
Frontend Development
- Strong JavaScript experience
- High performing ecommerce UX and performance optimisation
- Crafting fast, responsive customer experiences
Backend Development
- API development, integrations, automation
- Experimentation infrastructure, data flows, internal tools
Shopify Engineering
- Custom theme development (Liquid), app integration, advanced configuration
- Understanding of headless or hybrid architecture
- Ability to push Shopify well beyond template level functionality
They are flexible on which two you bring e.g., a frontend powerhouse with strong Shopify experience is just as welcome as a backend focused engineer with deep ecommerce knowledge.
