Position: Production Manager

The Production Manager within an experiential or creative agency is a hands-on role responsible for overseeing the technical and logistical execution of various event and activation elements. They ensure that all physical and technical aspects of a project are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards, working closely with Event Producers and external vendors.

Day to day, Production Managers manage supplier relationships, coordinate technical specifications, oversee equipment sourcing and installation, and manage on-site production teams. They are adept at problem-solving under pressure, ensuring the seamless integration of all production elements to bring creative concepts to life.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Manage the technical and physical production aspects of events and experiential activations.
  • Develop detailed production schedules, technical riders, and equipment lists.
  • Source, negotiate with, and manage a network of production suppliers, including AV, staging, lighting, sound, fabrication, and temporary structures.
  • Oversee the budgeting and cost control for all production elements.
  • Coordinate on-site setup, technical checks, rehearsals, and dismantle processes.
  • Manage and supervise on-site production crews and technicians.
  • Ensure all production aspects comply with safety regulations and site requirements.
  • Collaborate with creative teams to understand technical requirements and feasibility of designs.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues and provide solutions during pre-production and on-site.
  • Conduct post-production debriefs and manage equipment returns/storage.

 

Skills & Qualifications:  

  • Bachelor’s degree in Production Management, Technical Theatre, Event Management, or a related field.
  • Proven experience (4-6+ years) as a Production Manager or similar role in an agency or events environment.
  • Strong technical knowledge across various production disciplines (AV, lighting, sound, staging, rigging, fabrication).
  • Demonstrated experience in managing suppliers, budgets, and schedules.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to perform under pressure.
  • Highly organised with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, able to coordinate diverse teams.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations pertinent to event production.
  • Proficiency in relevant software (e.g., CAD, project management tools).
