Position: Account Director (Events/Experiential Agency)

The Account Director is a pivotal leadership role within an events or experiential agency, responsible for the strategic oversight and growth of a portfolio of key client accounts. They lead account teams, develop comprehensive client strategies, drive significant revenue, and ensure the consistent delivery of high-impact, award-winning experiential campaigns.

Day to day, an Account Director acts as a senior strategic partner to clients, identifying new business opportunities, fostering executive-level relationships, and ensuring the agency's offerings align with client needs. They mentor a team of Account Managers, oversee profitability, and champion the agency's reputation for creativity and delivery excellence.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage a portfolio of the agency's most strategic and high-value client accounts within the events and experiential sector.
  • Develop and implement long-term account strategies to drive significant revenue growth and client retention.
  • Act as the senior strategic partner and trusted advisor to executive-level clients.
  • Lead new business development efforts, including high-stakes pitches and proposals.
  • Responsible for the financial health and profitability of assigned accounts, including forecasting and budget oversight.
  • Provide leadership, mentorship, and professional development to a team of Account Managers and Executives.
  • Collaborate closely with Creative, Production, and Strategy Directors to ensure integrated, innovative solutions.
  • Ensure all projects are delivered to the highest standards of quality, creativity, and client satisfaction.
  • Negotiate complex contracts and commercial terms with clients.
  • Represent the agency at industry events and build its reputation in the market.

 

Skills & Qualifications:  

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Communications, or a related field.
  • Extensive experience (7-10+ years) in a senior account leadership role (e.g., Account Director, Senior Account Manager) within a leading events, experiential, or creative agency.
  • Proven track record of strategic account growth, managing large revenue portfolios, and new business wins.
  • Exceptional leadership, team management, and mentoring abilities.
  • Superior client relationship management skills at an executive level.
  • Strong financial acumen and budget management expertise.
  • Deep understanding of the events, experiential, and broader marketing landscape.
  • Outstanding negotiation, presentation, and communication skills.
  • Strategic thinker with a strong commercial mindset.
